What is magnesia? Dead burned magnesia


Magnesia is calcined at high temperature from magnesite, hydrate or magnesium hydroxide extracted from seawater. It is a general term for the products of magnesite and other magnesia raw materials that have been treated at high temperature to achieve sintering procedures. Using high-temperature equipment such as shaft kiln and rotary kiln, one-step calcining or two-step calcining process, the magnesia produced by firing natural magnesite as raw material is called sintered magnesia; magnesite is smelted by electric arc furnace as raw material to achieve melting The state formed after cooling is called seawater magnesia, which is made by extracting magnesia from seawater.


Magnesia is one of the most important raw materials for refractory materials. It is used to manufacture various magnesia bricks, magnesia-alumina bricks, ramming materials, charging materials, etc., and those containing more impurities are used for laying the bottom of steelmaking furnaces.


High-purity magnesia is produced by flotation and purification of natural super-magnesite ore, and calcined in ultra-high temperature oil shaft kiln with light burning and fine grinding. It is a high-quality raw material for brick-making indefinite refractories.


The mid-grade magnesia is produced from light-burned magnesia with a MgO content of 97%, and is produced by briquetting and high-temperature shaft kiln calcination. The product has good sintering degree and dense crystal, and is a high-quality raw material for the production of mid-grade magnesia refractory products.


Dead burnt magnesia


Fused magnesia is produced by melting in an electric arc furnace with selected special A-grade natural magnesite or high-purity light-burned magnesia particles. The product has the characteristics of high purity, large crystal grains, compact structure, strong slag resistance, good thermal shock stability, and is an excellent high-temperature electrical insulating material. important raw materials.


Raw materials for producing magnesia


The main raw material for the production of magnesia refractories is magnesia, which refers to sintered magnesia with a certain particle composition. It is made of sintered magnesia crushed. Sintered magnesite can be obtained by calcining magnesite.


In addition, sintered magnesia can also be extracted from seawater, salt lake brine, dolomite, serpentine and brucite. But so far, my country's sintered magnesia is still mainly obtained by calcining natural magnesite, and the salt lake magnesium extraction project is still under construction.


The production of fused magnesia in my country is mainly concentrated in Liaoning and Shandong, and magnesite is the main source.
